Month of Thankfulness!

So I have been REALLY slacking in the blogworld and will try to do better. One way is I am going to post everyday about what I am grateful for and then hopefully this will catch on. I'll try to sneak in some other random pictures in so you can see what you have missed out on too!

I am a couple days behind so I will play catch up...

Gratitude day 1: I am grateful for our warm, sunny beautiful weather! (And to NOT be living where it snows)

This may not be in my backyard but it is close enough and I LOVE it!

Gratitude Day 2: I am grateful to be able to volunteer in my son's classroom every Wednesday and for friends who watch my kids so I can.

AND I am grateful for my crazy Reid! He keeps my life active and full of surprises. He is so incredibly smart and amazed me every day with what he has learned and retained.

Gratitude Day 3:  Today I am grateful for the education and knowledge I have so I can teach my children at home. I am also grateful for the understanding that it is MY DUTY as a parent to teach my children and not just rely on the teachers to do so.
I have been blessed to be able to go back to school to earn my Bachelor of Science degree with a dual major in Infant/Toddler and Preschool Development. I have about 28 weeks left to go and then I will be done!!!

I have always felt it is important that as a parent I teach my children at home, that it is mine and their responsibility to do well in school and not to rely solely on the teacher to educate them. It is sad to see so many children failing because their parents don't do anything with them at home.

Gratitude Day 4: Today I am grateful for the rain that it falling and for how fresh and clean it makes everything look. I love a little break from our normal weather (but just a little one).

This is the view down my street, I wish the big trees would keep coming, but they stop at my neighbor's house :(

This is our house!

Reidie...Reidster...Reid-o...Reid!

I will be spotlighting each of my kids these next few posts to bring you all up to date on what they have been doing. Unfortunately the pictures are all random but enjoy anyway!!!

In May we went to visit my family in Fresno for my Mom's graduation. Our cousins came too..this is them at a park with their map of their castle. The older girl and Reid were the masters and they were telling their ninjas the game plan!

In June some friends from Utah visited San Diego and we met up with them at La Point. The Daddies went deep sea fishing while the mommies and kiddos played!

End of June/Beg of July we went to Utah for a 3 week trip! SO long without our Daddy :( Reid loves to wear his 'gumbo' boots and help Grandpa out on the farm!

While in Utah we stayed with Aunt Rachel and swam in her pool every day! Reid decided he was ready to swim in the deep end and has never stopped! He is such an amazing swimmer!

Loves the diving board!

His cousin Jace tagged along and we had so much fun with them

This was when we were at La Point, finally able to swim because the weather was so cold earlier

In Utah, Jed's side had a family reunion and one night Reid burned his hands on the skewers while roasting marshmallows. Second degree burns, but they healed up quickly and he was tough!

Grandpa dug a big hole to put the trampoline in...the boys took advantage of the dirt and hole as long as they could!

For the 4th of July we went to a Peter Breinholt concert with grandma Burton. It rained on us but was still so much fun!

Hiking around Mt. Baldy in August

"Swimming" in the hot tub at great-grandma wells' in PineValley!

Toured L.A...it was a hot day!

Being very curious at the Observatory in L.A.

Reid played T-ball this year and loved it for the most part. He would get bored and play in the dirt at times...but for the most part, did so well! His nick-name was chicken little because he looked just like chicken little running with the helmet (he was so little and the helmet kept wobbling).

at the observatory

Reid turned 6 years old and we were finally able to have a party outside...lots of water balloons and slip 'n slide!

Easter...my handsome boy!

Who wouldn't love this kid?!

We were finally able to go to Disneyland and had so much fun! We'll be going back for sure now that Lliam can go on the bigger rides.

Reid is my amazing little man. He is such a caring boy and has so much energy! He is following after his Daddy with being so curious and wanting to know everything and anything! His favorite subject in school is Math and loves being in 1st grade. He is such a friendly little guy and has a lot to say!

This will have to do for now

I know it's been way too long and I've been working on this all day today and really have only been able to get this little post done...so for now this will have to do! Here are some quick photos of some of the things our family have been doing together. Later posts to come I will be spotlighting each of my kids and their accomplishments this year!

For the past month we have had a 'German daughter' and it was so much fun! We miss her! This is us hiking at Mt. Baldy, some cool water holes and a water slide!

We went to L.A. to play tourists. The Hollywood sign is behind us!

On the walk of fame at Michael Jackson's star!

At the Observatory!

At Disneyland! Our first time going as a family!

Now I can really break in my running shoes!

For a long time Reid did not want to learn to ride a 2-wheeler...he was scared...not anymore! Tonight he got on and with just 1 push he was off and going! A little more practice staring on his own and he'll have it down! It definitely helps to be able to touch the ground easily, I think this is what gave him the confidence he needed.

I'm so proud of my Mom!

My Mom graduated with her Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy with Highest Honors!

This is at her 'pinning'. Her class had a special dinner where they each were spotlighted and received a pin. She is well-known for her baking skills!
